Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation Review

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation Review

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation Dawn

It feels as though the search for that perfect foundation is endless. I thought I'd found the one in Laura Mercier silk creme but alas the reformulation quickly put an end to that long term relationship. Sorry Laura, it's not me - it's you. Since then I've tried a few a number of cult favourites - Nars Sheer Glow, Tarte Amazonian Clay and L'oreal True Match just to name a few. And I must admit that I've enjoyed lots of them. None however have made quite the impression that this little bottle has.

I had always been a little scared to try Double Wear. I was convinced that something so high coverage couldn't possibly avoid being heavy and cakey. Needless to say I was wrong - it covers all manner of skin sins whilst still feeling weightless. I love using this foundation with a damp beauty blender, it blends beautifully and gives a flawless finish.

I would describe Double Wear as a demi-matte foundation. I can imagine that it would be great for people with oily skin for this reason, although I don't personally suffer from this and still love it. If you have drier skin and want to avoid an unnaturally matte face, adding a couple of drops of face oil gives it a dewier and more hydrating finish.

Staying Power
The most impressive thing about Double Wear is its incredible staying power, I've never experienced anything quite like it. It can last longer than many a high school relationship. I put it on before I leave the house in the morning and after a busy day in London it looks exactly the same. This is something I've been promised by so many brands but have never actually come across. I was beginning to think that it was impossible. Thankfully I stumbled upon this before giving up entirely.

So it's clear that I love this foundation. It's one that I can see myself using for a very long time. That being said it's not perfect. My main grievance lies in the packaging. Whilst the glass bottle is very beautiful it's incredibly unpractical. It doesn't have a pump making it a real hassle to actually get any product out of the the bottle.  It also has a serious problem when it comes to flash photography. Due to the SPF ingredients it makes you look as white as a sheet so it's probably not the best choice for events.

That being said, its beautiful finish and staying power make it a winner for me and I can't see that my love affair with it is going to end anytime soon.

    1. I can't recommend it enough (even though the bottle drives me crazy!)
