Inspirational Content #3: Danish Living and Breaking Bad Habits

1 // S3 Ep.1 - The Power, Banging Book Club

Banging Book Club is a podcast that discusses various books in terms of sex and gender. It's hosted by the lovely Lucy Moon, Leena Norms and Hannah Witton, a trio of wonderfully funny and intelligent women. These podcasts always provoke such interesting conversations and really get me thinking not only about fiction but life in general. This particular episode was on The Power by Naomi Alderman, which I haven't read yet. Warning: the episodes do have spoilers. Usually I promise myself that I'll read the book before I listen to the podcast, but often I just can't resist and end up doing it the other way around.

2 // Pink in Palm Beach, Girl Meets Glam

This has got to be one of the most aesthetically pleasing blogposts I've ever seen. The photography is absolutely stunning and I love the colour palette. I'm a sucker for pink and green. What I admire most about Julie's posts is that she really evokes a feeling. The clothes, the accessories, the setting, the editing - it's all so coherent and works together to create a story through her imagery.

3 // Planting Seeds of Happiness The Danish Way, TED Talks, Malene Rydahl

With the craze of hygge, it's no secret nowadays that Denmark is the happiest country in the world. I loved listening to Malene talk about the cultural values that lay down the foundation for this happiness. She pointed to the acceptance of other people's interests and ambitions, arguing that parents support their children's life goals rather than steering them into a respected career. How amazing would it be if we all felt that our interests and abilities were valued? I'm sure everyone would be much happier if we were allowed to be unapologetically who we are.

4 // From Chaka Khan To The Joy of Sex: All The References Worth Knowing At London Fashion Week, Refinery 29, Georgie Murray

If you're interested in the wild and whacky references that made their way into London Fashion Week, then this is a fun read. It's always interesting to see where creatives find their inspiration and how they recycle old ideas into something new and innovative.

5 // Struggling to Break a Bad Habit? Science Says You Should Do This, Marie Forleo

I get emails from Marie all the time, with various tidbits of information and nuggets of knowledge. This week she made a short video all about the power of your words when attempting to break a bad habit. It's apparently much more powerful to say 'I don't', rather than 'I can't'. In saying 'I don't' we put ourselves in control of the situation. We're able to construct a new version of ourselves, one that just doesn't have that bad habit.

6 // @carlyrowena

The daily instagram scroll is always that little bit brighter when it includes Carly. She's such a warm soul. Never without a smile and a kind word, I love how positive and genuine she is. Her feed is beautiful but what I love most are her lovely captions (and maybe her gorgeous dog, Stephen). She often posts inspirational quotes on her stories that give me a little reminder to think positive throughout the day. She's also got drool-worthy abs and her own fitness guide.
