Inspirational Content #8: Gut Health, Literary Fiction and Pastel Sunsets

It's that time of the week again, the one where I talk about what's been keeping me happy, healthy and inspired.

1 // Literary And/Or Commercial Fiction, Simon from SavidgeReads
In this video Simon looks at the difference between literary and commercial fiction. He discusses much of the snobbery that surrounds commercial fiction and asks the question, 'what makes a book good?'. I found this conversation so interesting, particularly when he spoke about accessibility. He also bashes The Idiot by Elif Batuman, which I'm currently reading and loving, proving that we all have different tastes when it comes to reading.

2 // The Brain-Changing Benefits of Exercise TED Talk, Wendy Suzuki
It's probably doesn't come as much of a shock that exercise is good for us. What I wasn't aware of was how much of an effect it has on our brains. It literally changes the size of certain areas of the brain, giving us better memory! Isn't that cool?

3 // Stretching Yoga Routine, Yoga with Adrienne
For the past week I've really been enjoying stretching, moving my body in a relaxing and peaceful way. I love all of Adrienne's videos but this week I've been particularly enjoying her stretching ones. They leave me feeling really connected to my body and are the perfect cure for days spent stagnating at a desk.

4 // Food for Thought: How Your Belly Controls Your Brain TED Talk, Ruairi Robertson 
Until recently, I had no idea how much your gut affects your mood. Did you know that 90% of your serotonin, the chemical in your body that regulates mood, is made in your digestive tract?! Ruairi Robertson's explains the link between food and mood and the science behind it. His talk highlights the importance of fuelling our body with nutrients that keep our gut, and therefore us, happy.

I've been a long time follower of MuchelleB and have loved watching her channel grow. Her Instagram is completely dreamy. She's nailed the pastel sunset theme. Muchelle makes videos all about intentional living and productivity. Both her information and video editing is completely on point. If you haven't checked her out already, I would highly recommend you do so. She's such a beautiful human.
